Acrylic Roof

RV Roof Types–Acrylic. Our number one choice of RV roof types for replacement is acrylic. A new Acrylic roof will extend the life of your roof for years! Acrylic is a unique combination of flexible polyester fabric and a white reflective acrylic, which creates a waterproof finish that will easily withstand all elements.
Acrylic roofs are more labor intensive than the liquid rubber. Therefore, they require a fabric to be applied over all seams, plus two coats of material. Acrylic roofs contain no chemicals, but they do require at least two days of rain-free weather over 55 degrees in order for it to cure (mend).

The biggest advantage with this roof is the elimination of high maintenance sealants and the fact that it can be applied over rubber, TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin), fiberglass, metal or wood.

Rubber Roof

RV Roof Types–Rubber. The most popular and common roofing material for RV roof types used today is Rubber. There are two different types of rubber roofs, an EPDM RV roof (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) and a TPO RV roof (Thermal Poly Olefin). Each require different maintenance. So, consult a trained professional at Gold Star RV Services to learn more in caring for which type of roof you choose.

Fiberglass Roof

RV Roof Types–Fiberglass. Some prefer a fiberglass roof to rubber because they require less maintenance and care. Fiberglass is a harder surface and a bit less common than a rubber roof. Besides adding weight to an RV, they also add cost.

Aluminum Roof

RV Roof Types–Aluminum. Aluminum is the least common of roofing materials. You will rarely see an RV with an aluminum roof. However, they do exist. Although aluminum also adds weight to the RV, it has much less maintenance.

Material Used in Construction of All Types of RV Roofs

Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) is a synthetic material that is often used when building RV roofs. Elements included in a roofing system are a waterproofing membrane, structural deck and thermal insulation barrier.

Conclusion

Doing a visual inspection is essential. So, you will have to know what type of material your RV roof is made of.  Also, it is important to know what type of maintenance your roof will require, how often  your roof will need work and what type of roofing products to use.

Choose a material that best suits your taste and needs.
